Getting settled in

Wow a week has already gone by! Time flies when you are working 6 days a week! Today, I went to visit another apartment with Plautille, the human resource lady from the office. I have a budget of only 400$ per month and housing is very expensive here. The place was much better than the ones I had visited before, but water is only turned on 3 hours per day. I am not too demanding, but I have a hard time letting go of the luxury of a hot shower…. The idea of getting sick and not having any water for the bathroom is also something I would rather not think about… However, my boss has also offered to let me stay at his place for another month. On the one hand, I want to be on my own and have the liberty to wander around whenever I like, but I also could not be better served in terms of comfort and convenience by accepting his generous offer. What do you guys think?
On Sunday, we went to the pool at the Novotel to relax. It is supposed to be the short rainy season here in Rwanda but the weather was exceptionally nice. It’s just like those summer days back home when you don’t feel too warm or too cold. I sat by the pool all afternoon in my long chair just observing the kids play in the pool and the other people enjoying their day. I think all the white people in Kigali must have been there. There was also this young French girl whom most people would have considered hot except that she had these huge hairy armpits. Caro, Martin’s girlfriend, and I made fun of her all day. We wondered how it was possible that all the boys with whom she was flirting did not seem to notice or care too much. She probably would have clogged up the pool filter had she gone swimming.

See you

-Pat

Well, well, well... look at you, working all hard and stuff!

You want my opinion? Here it is... stop shaving your armpits. It's easy... I'm sure that once it reaches a certain length, you'll barely even notice it anymore. Also, it appears to be a sure-fire way to attract the boys! DO IT!

Seriously, though, I say milk the comfort for all it's worth. I know freedom sounds nice now, but after 6 months of it, you're going to be dying for some creature comforts (hot water, for instance). Take it while you can!!

Have fun my dear! And do try not to work too hard... all work and no play makes you somewhat of a dull girl!

Finally, a picture! Feel free to upload more! Worth 1000 words, remember! It's actually hot and muggy here right now, go figure for a 26 of September. Gotta show mamie how to maintain a blog, she just sends emails to various people from time to time. They appear to be enjoying it so far. Do you have a bicycle there? -Papa

Wow... love the pic... you really seem to fit the business lady part! lol You look so smart!!!

Concerning you're logement...MILK THE LUXURY WHILE YOU CAN!!! Common, you dont even have a maid in Mtl who makes ur bed every morning, cleans ur clothes, AND makes u good home cooked meals! There will still be 4 months to have ur independence and explore the city. For now, take the comfort...Stephy is right...ull miss the comfort (I know you didnt shower very much in Peru, but you still like ur luxuries! lol)

Glad you're settling in, and fitting in just fine...keep posting pictures. I actually wasnt expecting any since the internet is so slow, so it was a pleasant surprise! :)

Love ya lots chica!
